Calendar for Kashmir’s budget session issued

Jammu – As per a notification of Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Council the sittings of the ensuing budget session of Jammu & Kashmir Legislative Council will start with Governor’s Address on the 8th of January 2007 to the joint sitting of Legislations.

Discussion on Motion of Thanks on Governor’s Address will be on January 10, 12 and 15. Annual Financial and supplementary statements of expenditure for the year 2007-08 will be presented on January 17, followed by General Discussion on Budget on January 19, 20 and 22. The General Discussion on Budget and Reply thereto will be on January 23.

To ensure the smooth conduct of business in assembly, renovation is going on all round the complex. Minister for Parliamentary Affairs, Finance & Law Tariq Hameed Karra today went round the Legislative complex and took stock of the ongoing renovation work.

During inspection the Minister issued on spot instructions to the executing agencies to gear up the speed of work so that it is completed before starting of ensuing Budget session. He directed for decorating the complex with vases planted with ornamental plants for improving esthetic environment both within and outside the complex.

He also directed for installing heating gadgets in sufficient number in officers and press galleries and assembly lobby besides both Houses to ensure comfortable stay for legislators, officers and media persons.

The Minister was accompanied by Secretary Legislative Assembly Mohammad Iqbal Ganai, Chief Engineer Electric D.S.Pawar, Director Estates B.A. Runial, Director Floriculture and other officers.

Later, the Minister held a meeting with the Speaker Legislative Assembly Tara Chand and discussed various issues regarding revamping of legislative complex with him.- INF
