Curfew, gags, across Kashmir
Srinagar, June 29, 2010:
The major towns in Indian administered Kashmir were put under curfew or restrictions on Tuesday, following more deaths of civilians in police and paramilitary firing on Monday.
Authorities have also suspended the text messaging services of mobile phones, in a bid to what they say, curb rumours mongering.
Mobile services in Sopore were suspended from Sunday
Curfew continued in northern town Sopore, the centre of fresh unrest in the region and adjoining Baramulla, while an undeclared curfew was clamped in most parts of summer capital Srinagar, and southern district Anantnag.
One man was injured when police opened fire on protoestors in Anantnag town Tuesday morning.
