Invest in Kashmir: Omar tells India Inc

Srinagar, January 16, 2009:

Chief Minister of Indian administered Kashmir Omar Abdullah here Friday evening asked corporate houses in India to invest in Kashmir.

Abdullah who was speaking after presenting Business India's 'Businessman of the Year 2008 Award' to P R S Oberoi, Chairman of the Oberoi Group at a function in Mumbai, India's financial capital, urged India Inc to see for itself what Kashmir had to offer.

Abdullah said he would like to see Kashmiri youth, who too aspire to be a part of corporate India's dream run, be equipped with skill sets to meet industry requirements.

The Kashmir chief minister said he wanted to create conditions for India Inc to earn profits in Kashmir.

Abdullah ensured India Inc that his government would provide every support required to make their entry into Kashmir easy and comfortable.

The chief minister said Kashmir offers world-class golfing facilities.

"Though I do not play golf, Kashmir has a spectacular golf course in the summer capital Srinagar. I invited corporate houses to come to Kashmir," he said.

"I don't play but my father has built a spectacular golf course in Srinagar."

Omar's father Farooq Abdullah, former three times chief minister of Kashmir converted the city forests on the banks on world famous Dal Lake into the Royal Springs Golf Course.
