Kashmir separatist say no elections
Srinagar, March 07, 2008:
Senior separatist and chairman of Peoples League in Indian administered Kashmir Sheikh Abdul Aziz Thursday said Kashmiris have no interest in elections held under the Indian constitution.
He was reacting to the statement of Pakistan social and human and rights activist Asma Jahangir who is on a visit to Kashmir.
Aziz said Kashmir is a long pending dispute, which needs to be resolved as per the aspirations of Kashmiris.
"Kashmiris have to decide Kashmir's future Kashmir but not by election or selection. Only tripartite and meaningful talks can usher an era of peace in South Asia," said Aziz a member of the moderate faction of All Parties Hurriyat Conference, and a former militant commander.
