Trooper abducts Kashmir woman
Srinagar, Thursday, February 29, 2008:
Police in Indian administered Kashmir Friday registered a case against an Indian trooper on charges of abduction.
The trooper Fayaz Ahmad Bajad of Territorial Army had abducted a woman on gunpoint, police said.
A case has been registered under section 365 of Ranbir Penal Code and 7/25 Act against the trooper at Kangan Police Station.
Territorial Army is a counter insurgency force raised by Indian home ministry in Kashmir to absorb the militant turned government gunman in the regular force.
The renegades who are known as Ikhwanis in local parlance shifted loyalties in 1994 and gave a tilt to the insurgency in Kashmir in India's favour.
Its men enjoying full government patronage perpetrated atrocities on people and acted as unbridled force in mid nineties.
